Scholarship/Endowment Fund Raiser Golf Tournament
April 25th 2014, Corsicana Country Club, Corsicana Texas USA
Shane Allen, Head of Synchro ERP North American Operations, had the distinct pleasure of representing the Synchro ERP team at the recent AFS Texas Chapter educational scholarship fundraiser. The annual golf tournament is held at the Corsicana Texas Country Club and Oil City Iron works is a principal organizer of this. This year, the attendance was phenomenal and the weather was made to order with clear blue skies and a nice warm 85 degree Fahrenheit breeze! Although the numbers are not in yet, the amount raised for education should be phenomenal as well. Education is so important and insuring that college students have access to much needed funds is so important in insuring the continued growth of the metalcasting industry.
The dinner meeting was made complete with the featured speakers of Chris Norch, president of Denison Industries, who is the AFS National President and Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell. Chris spoke on his past experience in working with Oil City Iron Works and at Denison Industries and the goals of the National AFS Chapter. Chris reiterated the importance of education.
The featured speaker of the evening was Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell. Brian survived the horrific 9-11 attack on the Pentagon and was seriously injured. Brian gave an update on upcoming legislative initiatives in the State of Texas and why the Texas economy is doing so well, mainly because of the pro-business stance of Texas.
A good time was had by all and the dinner was a great follow-on to the golf tournament of surf-and-turf. and much appreciation goes to the Texas AFS Chapter leaders of Eric Meyers, Larry Bailey, Jerry Nagel, Shawn Ingram, Tim Purcell, Bill Riley, Ben Riley, and of course Dan Smith - amongst a host of others.
Good job Texas AFS Metalcasters!
