AFS Texas Meeting Lubbock Texas November 16th 2012
An excellent meeting… Shawn Ingrim said they appreciated our support and also taking all of the pictures as the unofficial photographer!.
Went to dinner with the AFS Treasurer Dan Smith of Southwest Steel Casting Company and met up with several other foundry folks.
Attended the tour with a few others at CMH Manufacturing. CMH owner has a Chevy Volt which we talked about – he drives an environmental friendly car. Said he has not filled it with gas in over a year - it is electric. CMH manufactures tilt-pour systems and also turn tables for the industry. He likened the tilt-pour as to pouring a beer - as all foundry men know about pouring beer - that if you pour a beer into a glass standing up, there will be a lot of foam and the foam is like the mineral impurities in the metal. However, if you tilt the glass and then pour the beer, you get no foam and thus a good pour. Their system tilts the mold for the metal pour. They also make large turntables for the molding lines.
Attended the board meeting and Synchro was recognized for being a sponsor and also an AFS Corporate Member. The chapter is in great financial shape. Apparently this is the first AFS Texas meeting in Lubbock since the 1970's. I gave each one attending a special Synchro ERP - USB and Lanyard.
The dinner banquet and speaker were well attended. I'd estimate about 50 people in attendance. |
