Venue for the AFI NZ Conference - Queenstown the Alpine resort centre –Millennium Hotel Exhibition Oct 30th Nov 2nd

Stunningly beautiful.

A golf tournament was organised at Jacks Point Club as the first social event. Richy (Our man SYNCHRO) was in a team of 4 with Lou Talveski (Graham Cambell Ferrum) and two members of Intercast in Perth, Darcy and Mike Grove. This group won the event with a 2 under par net 70. Richy, won the longest drive on the 17th hole. Big smiles all round.

Evening opening drinks in the exhibition hall. Familiar faces, Phil Stodard and son David from Castech, Jill Werner from Beverly Industries, Bruce White from White Industries, Jo Crowther from Progressive castings. Going to the hotel for dinner, the local lamb was wonderful.
Now to work.

This was a well-attended event, with approx. 150 delegates. SYNCHRO sponsored all the name tags and the satchels adding our brochure and presentation CD. The hall was completely full, no booths left empty.

The exhibition started at 8.30am, however the exhibitors hall remained virtually empty until 10.30 am when tea break saw most of the delegates adjourn to our hall. This pattern repeated over the two days of the show.

Richy gave a paper. PowerPoint demonstration ‘Changing World of Business Intelligence’ although somewhat nervous he did us all proud. He had worked hard on his research and gave an interesting insight into BI and the future landscape we will all be facing, like it or not.

The show was a great success with Synchro forging new relationships with Metcast, who are the primary foundry suppliers in New Zealand. We also managed to get Bob Abel from CanCast to request a quote for a system, big thanks to Jo Crowther for the assistance here.

The next AFI will be based in Sydney, with the exact venue TBA.
